my crazy life
I have had the most wonderful, crazy life. I grew up in the small town of Rockford, Michigan. In Rockford, I was able to excel in academics and the arts. I spent my high school years in AP classes and doing musical theatre and choir. During my high school career I acted in eight shows and directed two. My passion for English greatly influenced my interest in the arts. I have always been entranced by language, loving reading and writing.
At home, I live in what we call an "urban farm." I have roughly fourteen pets-two dogs, three cats, three rabbits, four chickens, one fish, and my bees (which I count as one). Pets are an incredibly important part of my life, as I have always had one growing up. I would love to one day be the teacher with a class pet.
I absolutely love traveling and surrounding myself with different cultures. Growing up in such a sheltered town, I am extremely interested in the cultural differences of different countries, but also of simply different states. I love seeing how different the lifestyles in Chicago, Illinois are from that in Ashville, North Carolina. Outside of the United States, I have traveled to Canada and Italy (with a layover in Germany). I was surrounded by completely different cultures, and I loved it. When traveling, I like to visit places that aren't tourist traps, so I can see how people in each place spends their every day life. I cannot wait to travel more of our beautiful world.
Sustainability is also incredibly important to me. I limit myself to stay under five pieces of single-use plastic per day, and when it cannot be avoided, I find a way to reuse. I have my own compost pile, and am working on creating my own transportable vermicomposting bin. I also love gardening. I helped plant two native rain gardens at the Rockford High School, and I have planted dozens of vegetable, fruit, and flower gardens at my house. My house is even a certified wildlife habitat!
